I extend my humble thanks to Mr. Takashi Katae, Charge` d’Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.
Mr. TOSHIKAZU ISOMURA, Counselor, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan
For all the help to make this  event successful as we see here.

Before I express my views about the workshop, I would like to comment on the participants of this workshop.
It was a group of extremely motivated people, in terms of attendance, persistence and aspirations.
Seeing their interest in this unique art of Japan, 5 day long workshop seems to me too short and in my view we need to do more in future in the future.
OBJECTIVES of this Workshop:

  1. Introduction of the novel technique/ materials and tools
  2. Practical learning of  3steps Process of  Japanese Woodblock Printing
  3. Familiarity with some Japanese vocabulary and some famous Japanese artists
  4. Emphasizing the relevance and importance of  Arts in life (as this brings us closer to nature by appreciating the colours and forms in nature
  5. Use of handmade paper (another way of respecting our natural resources)
  6. Social interaction

OUTCOMES of the Workshop:

  1. Participants can explain the technique
  2. Participant has his own personal print made from his block
  3. Participant knows some Japanese words like KENTO, BAREN, TSUMI, MOKUHANGA
  4. Participant can describe some familiarity with Japanese artists like MUNAKATA SHIKO or HOKUSAI
  5. Participant can express the difference between a machine made paper and a handmade paper( probably it was the first time for most of them to feel a handmade paper)
  6. Participant has new social connections and friends

My congratulations to all participants for a successful completion of this Workshop and I wish to see them again in the near future for reviving their interest and sharing on a deeper level.
Once again, thanks to all.
Dr. Shahida
