PAKISTANI STUDENTS LEAVE FOR JAPAN UNDER THE JAPAN-SAARC HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Islamabad: 16th June 2010
The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan has decided to send nine high school students and an accompanying teacher from Pakistan to visit Japan on the Japan-SAARC High School Students Invitation Program from June 23 to July 2, 2010. These students have been selected by the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education, Islamabad. A total of seventy two students and eight teachers from the SAARC countries will be participating in this invitation program to be held in Japan, an observer country of SAARC.
This invitation program will provide an opportunity to the SAARC high school students to learn about Japan’s state-of-the-art technologies and efforts in the field of environment. The high school students from SAARC countries and Japan will participate in a forum on the theme of environment and also visit sites in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto that would help them understand the history, society, and traditional culture of Japan. They will also have an opportunity to visit a high school in Japan and to stay with host families to experience Japanese lifestyle.
Mr. Chihiro Atsumi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, today, handed over travel documents to the nine selected students and their accompanying teacher in a ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan. Ambassador Atsumi congratulated them on the joyous occasion and wished them a safe journey. (End)
