STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Islamabad: 18th November 2011
Nine high school students of Faisalabad and an accompanying escort are going to visit Japan under the Japan-SAARC High School Students Exchange Program from November 23rd to December 2nd, 2011. The students have been selected by the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with the educational institutions in Faisalabad. A total of seventy-two students and eight teachers from the SAARC countries will be participating in this invitation program to be held in Japan, an observer country of SAARC.
This year’s invitation program will provide an opportunity to the SAARC high school students to learn about Japan’s highly regarded efforts in the field of resource recycling and renewable energy. The high school students from SAARC countries and Japan will participate in a forum on the theme of “recycling-oriented societies” and also visit sites in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto that would help them understand the history, society, and traditional culture of Japan. They will also have an opportunity to visit a high school in Japan and to stay with host families to experience Japanese lifestyle.
Mr. Akira Kono, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, today, handed over travel documents to the nine selected students and their accompanying escort in a ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan. (End)
