Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for 2016 Teacher-Training Students

 

We are pleased to announce that the Government of Japan is offering a scholarship to Pakistani teachers who wish to conduct research on school education under the Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Government of Japan: MEXT) Scholarship Programme (Teacher-Training Students) for the fiscal year 2016. A grantee is classified as a non-degree student, but he/she will get a certificate after completing the required course at the university in Japan. This programme is not designed for those who wish to enter Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctor’s degree courses. The candidate must meet the following requirements.

  1. Age: Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of 1st April, 2016.

(i.e. born on and after the 2nd of April 1981)

  1. Educational Qualifications: Applicant must have graduated from a university or a teacher-training school and have worked as a teacher of an elementary school or secondary educational institute or a teachers-training school in his/her home country for at least five years in total, as of 1st April, 2016.
  1. Individual Criteria: Applicants must be intellectually and psychologically capable of spending an eighteen month period in an international atmosphere in a society with a culture very different from that of Pakistan. Also, applicants must be willing to learn Japanese language and receive research guidance in Japanese, because many universities conduct courses only in Japanese. The Japanese language training will be provided by the University in Japan. The courses will start in October 2016.

Interested candidates are to apply directly to the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan no later than 9th February, 2016 . Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The required documents are:

  1. A recent Curriculum Vitae (Indicating detail of educational qualification, years of teaching experience and complete contact info)
  2. A recommendation letter from the school Principal
  3. A (brief) statement of purpose for applying in this scholarship
