Ambassador Inaugurated Japan Funded Social Development Project in District Haripur

      H.E. Mr. Takashi Kurai, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, on Thursday 20^th November 2018, inaugurated the social development project “The Enhancement of Sanitation and Maintenance of Learning and Hygienic Environment in Girl’s Primary Schools in district Haripur” which was funded by the Government of Japan. The Government of Japan had extended the financial support of US$ 538,302 to the international non-governmental organization named Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) for the completion of this social development project. The organization AAR Japan is actively working for the improvement of hygiene and learning environment in education sector.  

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the representatives of NGOs , regional educational officers, members of local communities, school staff and students.

This project is expected to benefit around 3,347 students who are currently enrolled in 14 different girls’ schools of Haripur district by providing them with better hygienic environment in their respective schools. The improved hygienic environment at these schools is also expected to help enhance the enrollment rate of girls in schools located in the project areas. Before this project, these schools had limited hygiene environment for students and teachers.

Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr Takashi Kurai, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony congratulated the team of AAR Japan for their timely and successful completion of the project. Ambassador Kurai wished that the assistance provided by the Government of Japan will contribute to the creation of a healthy and conducive learning environment for the students in their educational institutions. He hoped that the project would not only benefit the students to get their education in an enabling environment but would also help further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan.
