Message from H.E. Mr. AKAMATSU Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan
Dear friends and colleagues in Pakistan, Assalam-o-alaikum.
My name is AKAMATSU Shuichi, the newly-arrived Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan.
Just one week has passed since I arrived at Islamabad. However, I am already touched by the hospitality and kindness of Pakistani people, and have realised that Pakistan is a very dynamic country with rich history and diverse culture and has tremendous potential with 250 million population.
As Ambassador of Japan, I commit myself to deepening the people-to-people ties between our two countries.
Japan and Pakistan enjoy a long-standing friendship, built on mutual respect and cooperation dating back to 1952, when our two countries established diplomatic relations. This year, 2024, marks the 70th anniversary of Japan’s provision of official development assistance (ODA) to Pakistan. We still have many ongoing projects. I hope to maintain and expand such development cooperation that truly improves the lives of Pakistani people.
I am grateful that there are already many fans of Japanese culture here in Pakistan, and I believe that more interaction will surely increase the Japanese fans of Pakistani culture as well. Next year Japan will host the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. I hope that it will become a stimulus for the two countries’ interactions.
I cannot reiterate enough how excited I am at taking up this position, and am looking forward to meeting and working together with many people here and exploring the attractions of Pakistan.
