The Embassy of Japan in cooperation with the Japan Karate Association Pakistan organized Karate Education Workshop 2020 on February 26th at the Rodham Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex.
Mr. SHINDO Yusuke, Minister / Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, inaugurated the day-long Karate Education Workshop which is aimed at further promoting the sport of karate among the younger generation and Karate lovers in Pakistan. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. SHINDO said that Karate Workshop 2020 will surely contribute to develop and strengthen ties through the Japanese traditional martial arts and enhance cooperation in the sports sector. He said Karate will be among 33 sports events in 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and wished good luck to Pakistani athletes participating in the mega event.
Japan Karate Association of Pakistan is holding this education workshop under the title of “6th JK National Karate Camp” and was participated by the school children and JKA Pakistan club members. Instructors of the Japan Karate Association of Pakistan — from Peshawar, Sialkot and Lahore — imparted physical as well as mental training to the participants during the day-long workshop
The workshop, with the presence of Mr. Katsutoshi Shiina, a leading Karate player from Japan and JKA official instructor, 7th Dan [The levels are divided into “Kyu” and “Dan”, and the levels start from Kyu (10 to 1) to Dan (1 to 10)] offered opportunities not only for the participants to enhance their martial arts skills but also for people of Pakistan to explore the fun and excitement of Karate.
Karate, which has been included in the Olympic event for the first time from the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, is one of internationally recognized martial arts originating in Japan and has become popular in Pakistan.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Ryuji Iwasaki, Counsellor / Head of Public Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, paid his gratitude to Mr. Shiina for arriving all the way from Japan to supervise the karate education workshops in Pakistan. He said that the purpose of holding this karate education workshop was to provide an opportunity to the Pakistani youth to learn “real” karate which requires courtesy as well as mental endurance rather than physical strength. He highly appreciated the participants for showing their keen interest in this workshop and hoped that it would prove beneficial for them. He also thanked Japan Karate Association of Pakistan for making this workshop successful. Later, Mr. Iwasaki presented certificates to the workshop participants.
